Terengganu is an east coast state in Peninsular Malaysia which is rewarded with the longest coastline. Sparsely populated it is one of the places in the country that retains its laid back and relaxing atmosphere. Besides the beaches, Terengganu also has many offshore islands that are heaven to divers. Several of which are developed to serve the demand of tourism. Travel in Terengganu is seasonal. The season starts in March and ended in October. The touristy islands of Pulau Perhentian, Pulau Lang Tengah and Pulau Redang are located at the north of the state. It is the nearest island, an ideal stop over island for back packers. Further south is Pulau Tenggol a quiet island that has only one resort.

This town is the main connection to other destinations within the state as well as to other states. Malaysian Airlines and Air Asia have regular flights between Kuala Lumpur and Kuala Terengganu. Visitor wishing to resume their journey to the islands and other destinations can use the taxi service available at the airport. Those arriving on by night buses may consider a day of rest in one of the guest hostels or hotels in town. Arrangements can be made in town for your continuing journey.
